What an irony to name them love handles, isn’t it? Will anything they stand for make you love them in any way? In particular for many men the love handles are the unsightly chunks of fat present at the sides, right above the hips. Leg flutters
With this exercise, you will strengthen the back that will help support the muscles you develop in front. Lie back on the floor with your head slightly elevated. Have your arms straight down, palms on the floor. Lift your knees and feet and keep them there till you reach a count of 20, then relax your legs and “flutter” them as quickly as possible.
Twist crunches
They are comparable to crunches, but offer an excellent opportunity to work on the love handles. Lie on the floor again and with your hands behind your head (keep your head off the floor) and legs bent, twist using the midsection to the right whilst moving your left elbow towards the right knee. Stay there till you count to three, then return to the initial pose. Continue for the other side and aim to do 25 of these.
Standing trunk twists
This workout is very effective for both burning fat and toning muscle. Start from a standing position with feet very far apart but maintaining stability at the same time, and then twist towards your left. After you do the same for the other side, work towards 100 repetitions.

For toning up obliques and a great cardio workout, consider Tae Bo. When you twist to kick and punch, the love handle area is worked and targeted whilst also reducing fat from the body. If you opt out of an actual class, you can choose one the many DVD versions available on the market.

While at times the weight loss is fast, it tends to become slower as the workout, if kept at the same intensity, fails to challenge the body to the same extent. If that’s the case, vary it slightly whether it is on the exercise regime or perhaps an increase of protein and even less fat in your diet.
In spite of what you might have thought, ridding yourself of this nuisance for good is quite possible, not to mention that it’s worth every minute and drop of energy that you commit to it. Your trimmed looks and added self confidence will be self evident.
